WEST LEBANON, N.H. -- Edward Thomas Sabol, Jr., 75, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018. At his request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. He will be buried at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H. Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory of Lebanon-Enfield assisted the family with arrangements.

West Lebanon, NH--Edward Thomas Sabol, Jr. died January 11, 2018 after a long period of failing health. He was born in Westfield, MA on Oct. 28, 1942, the son of Edward Thomas & Marion Claire (Reed) Sabol. He grew up in Springfield, MA, attending Classical High School and Springfield Technical High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he turned 18 and served 4 years as a chef, mostly on the Luiseno, an Atlantic Fleet Tug involved in evacuating civilians from Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs invasion. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked various jobs, including at a print shop in Hanover, NH, managing several local restaurants, serving with the Lebanon Fire Dept. where he worked his way up to Captain and was the safety inspector in Lebanon. He also worked in shipping & receiving at Carroll Reed in Hanover, while working part-time at White Mountain News, delivering newspapers to stores all over the state and occasionally into Vermont and Maine. This became a full-time job after being laid off just prior to the closing of Carroll Reed. His medical condition forced his retirement in 2004. His surviving family includes his wife of 53 years, the former Sharon L. Texeira, a son Thomas & his fiancée Tawnyia Redcay of Carlisle, PA and daughters Debbie (Sabol) Bogle and her husband Scott of Lebanon and Theresa Sabol of Grantham. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Tory, Amber & her husband Jordan Potteiger, Rebecca and Ryan and 1 great-grandson, Tyler Potteiger. There will be no visiting hours. A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at the NH National Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Upper Valley Human[e] Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748 or Hope Bible Fellowship, 114 Seminary Hill, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
