Funeral services for Winnifred Rubyjean Scarbrough, known to everyone as Jean, will be held 1:00 PM Saturday January 13,2018 from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church at Grayson with Bro. Visitation will be held on Friday January 12, 2018 at the church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Jean was born on December 10,1934 at Rayville, LA to the union of Dennis Maston Powell and Dora Palina Williams Powell and she passed from this life, to life eternal on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness. Jean was a wife, a mother, a grandmother , great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her family and church family were the most important things in her life. She was always there for any family member or friend and she would gladly “champion” any situation on behalf of the person in need. There is absolutely no way to put into words or aptley describe Jean's sweet and loving personality. She was an active member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and had been preceded in death by three husbands: Robert E. Tanner, Willie E. “Bill” Scarbrough, and Bruce E. “Pete” Scarbrough; her daughter and her family: Janice, Glen and Daniel Wiley; her grandchildren: O. J. Clark, Ava Clark, and Gabbie Scarbrough, Maston Jodzio, and Robi McClain; and her step-son:, Ronnie B. Scarbrough, Sr. As anyone can see Jean had experienced death time and time again, but trusterd in God's word where He tells us the last enemy to be destroyed is death.

Left to cherish a lifetime of precious memories are three sons: Rex Scarbrough and wife Linda of Sieper, LA; David Scarbrough and wife Rita of Larto lake, LA; Dennis Scarbrough and wife Emma also of Larto Lake; four daughters: Jackie Harveston and husband Pete of Grayson, Karen Smith of Columbia, and Sandra Scarbrough and Charlene Taylor and husband Al, all of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; 3 step children: Larry Scarbrough,Thomas "Tom" Scarbrough,Vicki Scarbrough; four adopted children: Billy Scarbrough, Damon Scarbrough, Ryan Scarbrough and Christopher Scarbrough. Her family legacy she leaves also includes sixteen grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a very special thanks to Hope "tiger" Johnson for the tender loving care and time she gave to our mother, her mamaw.

Serving as pallbearers will be Damon Scarbrough, Rex Scarbrough, Ronnie Scarbrough, Ryan Carr, James Flores, JR, Billy Scarbrough, Charles McClain, Dustin Wilbanks, Eric Clark, Ryan Scarbrough, Christopher Scarbrough, and Bill Clark.
