William J. Cappellino "Capp", a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, passed away on March 10, 2007 at Calvary Hospital, after a long battle with Leukemia. He was 78 years old. Bill was born on June 14, 1928 to the late James and Emma Oest Cappellino, and was educated in the New Rochelle schools. On March 31, 1957 he married Rita Rossi. Mr. Cappellino served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 and was stationed in Germany. He joined the New Rochelle Police Department in 1956 and retired as a Detective in 1978. William is survived by his loving wife Rita, son James and daughter-in-law Amy; granddaughter Emma and a sister Lorraine Todaro of Harrison. He was predeceased in 2006, by a brother Joseph. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Visiting hours will be Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16 Shea Pl. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday 9:30am at Holy Name Church. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in can be made to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Rd.
