Catherine M. Pugh (Kitty) was the first child born in California after a her parents arrived in Sonoma County via wagon train. She married George Elliott Harvey in Santa Cruz in 1870 and they had four daughters (Mamie, Cora, Mable, and Georgianna) and George died in about 1884. Kitty remarried to J.G. Cashin. Notice of her death was published in the San Francisco Call on July 1, 1891 and reported her death date as June 29 and her age as 29. However, she died at the age of 33 years of unknown causes in San Francisco, and was reinterred to Sacramento in the 1930s. Her grave is unmarked.Kate Pugh Harvey Cashin was buried at San Francisco and in the 1930s her grave was relocated to the Oddfellows Cemetery adjoining the grounds of the Sacramento City Cemetery. Her remains are without a headstone as of 2007.
