1971 obituary. Andrew A. Doughty, 78, died Tuesday in a local hospital after a long illness. A former accountant, he had resided with relatives and in nursing homes. He was born on Long Island, March 4, 1892, son of Rubin and Ida Cushing Doughty. He worked as an accountant in Greater Portland until about 20 years ago. Mr. Doughty was a member of Ancient Land Mark Lodge No. 17, AF&AM, for 50 years. His wife, the former Ethel Sloan, died in 1946. He is survived by three daughters; three sons; five sisters, Mrs. Harry Farrington of Portland, Mrs. Fred Whitlock of Cuchamonga, Calif., Mrs. Sam Bowen of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Clayton Barrett and Mrs. Theodore Stuart, both of Lake Worth, Fla.; four brothers, Clifford of Falmouth, Olan A., of Portland, Merlin of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Clayton H. of Hollywood, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. ...Interment in Brooklawn Memorial Park.
