Verna Viola Laine was the second child born to Bill and Cora Laine. She was born at the family farm on Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento near Power Inn Road. Her father worked for PG&E at the time. She left California for New York and married there - a brief marriage. She returned to California after the divorce and remarried Glenn Grover. They lived in Danville and raised their son William Grover. Glenn died in 1965 and Verna remarried for the final time to Bud Palmer about 1970. A life-long smoker, she died in Antioch CA of lung cancer in 1991. Her ashes were scattered by the Neptune Society.
