John M. Boyle
John M. Boyle, 67, of Shepherdstown, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at Berkeley Medical Center, Martinsburg.
Born March 4, 1950, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late George H. Boyle Jr. and Myrtle L. (Edwards) Boyle.
Mr. Boyle was a sheet metal mechanic, specializing in HVAC equipment.
He was a graduate of Gaithersburg, Maryland, High School.
John was the “rabbit” man at the Jefferson County Fair. A decade ago, he got into goats, and was the assistant superintendent of the goat farm at the fair. He loved animals, riding his horse and spending time at the Jefferson County Fair.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia A. (Ridenour) Boyle, at home; son, John M. Boyle Jr. and wife, Gwen, of Harpers Ferry; daughters, Sarah N. Fiedler-Reese and husband, Derrick, of Martinsburg and Alice K. Welch and husband, Jamie, of Sharpsburg, Maryland; grandsons, Randy Boyle, Connor Welch and Ryan Spears; and was expecting his first great-granddaughter; two brothers, David P. Boyle, of Martinsburg and William E. Boyle, of Hagerstown, Maryland; and his aunt, Alice Nicely and husband, Morris, of Derwood, Maryland.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
