Mr. Burnett Forest Adcock passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cromwell Adcock. Mr. Adcock was born in Rutherford County, NC on February 14, 1934 to the late Gladys Alma Russ and Willie Garland Adcock. He retired from the United States Army in 1977 after 21 years of service. He served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze star. He retired from John Randolph Hospital. Mr. Adcock was an accomplished bluegrass musician. He enjoyed playing the banjo for his fellow soldiers. He and his wife performed with such artists as Kitty Wells, Marty Robbins, Jimmy Peck, Dotty West, Hank Thompson, Jimmy Dickens and Charlie Pride. Highlighting their many performances was appearing before the Ambassador of Switzerland in Berne, Switzerland and also the Beer and Wine Festival in Austria. They also made appearances on The Grand Ole Opry in 1964 and 1965.

Burnett Adcock is survived by his daughter Janice A. Flanagan (Mark) of Costa Mesa, CA; sons, Keith A. Adcock of New Kent and Kenneth B. Adcock (Barbara) of Powhatan; grandchildren Justin, Jake, Jesse, and Riley Ann as well as great grandson Kaiden.

Funeral services for Burnett Adcock will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home located at 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA 23927. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Bluestone Cemetery. The Reverend Lee Foster will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
