Merry Dorris Duncan Schlosser

Dorris passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018 at her home in John Knox Village.
Dorris was born in Paris, Missouri the only child of Missouri Senator Cullen S Duncan and Merry Berry Duncan. The family moved to New Franklin, Missouri where they lived until Dorris was junior in high school. They then moved to Fayette, Mo where she completed high school and attended Central Methodist College. During her sophomore year, Dorris was crowned "Miss Fayette" in the Miss Missouri Contest.
After moving to Kansas City, she worked at the now-famous Western Auto Building where she met Donald E. Schlosser. They were soon married, and after Don's service in World War II as a B-17 pilot, they had three sons Doug, Thom and Scott. Moving to Raytown, Mo., they raised their family in what Dorris has described as "the best neighborhood with the best neighbors anyone could hope for." Dorris, Don and their sons were very active in athletics and scouting. Dorris was a Cub Scout Den Mother three times and "attended more little league baseball games than she could count."
Dorris was a Buyer and Department Manager for Halls on the Plaza until her retirement in 1982. After the death of her husband Don, Dorris moved to Lee's Summit, Mo where she was a volunteer at Lee's Summit Hospital for seventeen years. She was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Broadview Christian Church in Raytown until she transferred her membership to Longview Christian Church.
Dorris was a passionate card player. She earned her Sectional Master designation in bridge and belonged to several card clubs as well as being a regular at the Lee's Summit Senior Center for several years.
Dorris is survived by her three sons; Doug and his wife Martha, Thom and his wife Becky, and Scott and his spouse Cindy: grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorris joins her grandparents, parents, husband, dear friends Mary and Jean, and many other friends in heaven.
