Andrew H. "Bill" Jacobs, age 68, of Oneida, died May 21, 1995, in Florida. Born in Viola, Tenn., February 9, 1927, he was the son of the late A. A. and Minnie Hollis Jacobs. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida and a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. A graduate of Tennessee Tech University, he received his master's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. He was a teacher and coach at Coalfield High School, Oneida High School and Franklin High School. He returned to Oneida in 1966 to serve as Superintendent of Oneida Schools, a position he held for 18 years. He was currently employed as Marketing Director and Vice-President of Kaatz, Binkley, Jones and Morris Architects, Inc. of Knoxville. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Oneida Lions Club, and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Steven Jacobs, and four brothers: Gene, Ted, Harris and Leslie Jacobs. He is survived by his wife, Jean Whitfield Jacobs of Oneida, one daughter, Cindy Jacobs, of Knoxville; three brothers, Charles Jacobs and wife, Lynne; John Jacobs and wife Helen, all of Morrison, Tenn., and Clarence Jacobs and wife, Edna, of Winchester, Tenn.; three sisters, Jo Robinson and husband, Carl of Morrison, Tenn.; Vivian Toman of Naperville, IL, and Waldine Whitehead of Boaz, Ala; daughter-in-law, Pamela Jacobs; two very special grandsons, Daniel and Benjamin Jacobs, all of Oneida, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday), May 25, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Ministers Paul Hite and Michael Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Carson Memorial Park. The family was to have received friends Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Jones & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Oneida, % Paul Hite, P.O. Box 4445, Oneida, Tenn., 37841.
