Phyllis Louise Jordan, 86, of Grand Island passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island. Father Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Phyllis was born on Jan. 8, 1932, in Elba to Stanley and Salomae Tesmer. She grew up on the family farm near Dannevirke, Neb. and graduated from Elba High School.
She was united in marriage to Thomas L. Jordan on May 26, 1951, at Paplin, Neb. The couple made their home in El Paso, Texas. Following his discharge the couple moved to Grand Island in 1954.
Phyllis was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed her family, her backyard, refurbishing jewelry, vacationing and having garage sales.
She was very active in Catholic Daughters and was a charter member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, and a past member of the Platt-Duetsche and the Liederkranz.
Those left to cherish her memory include her immediate family; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Margorie Jordan of Grand Island, Major Rodney Jordan of Fredericksburg, Va., and Russell and Erin Jordan of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry Long of Boynton Beach, Fla. and Stacie and Randy Pizer of Punta Gorda, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Phyllis will be welcomed into heaven by her parents; her husband, Thomas; a daughter, Deborah Gordon; five brothers, Floyd, Leonard, Raymond, Arnold and Delphy Tesmer; and two sisters, Adine Wright and Alice Wilsey.
