He was a Navy veteran, retired from the NN Shipyard after 39 years, and coached baseball at Deer Park for 11 years.
He was a fun-loving and devoted husband, dad and papaw who loved being with his family. He participated in all kinds of mischief with his grandkids. He loved growing a garden, tending to his lawn, and playing cards. His tomatoes were the best.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marcus L. and Edith Jenkins, and brother Randall Pounders(186778877).
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Marie Frances Jenkins, his children Angie (David) Sponaugle, Diane (Doug) Little, and Marc (Amanda) Jenkins, sister Betty Tyree, grandchildren Trenton, Cassidy, Ethan, Olivia, Jaylen, Cody and Natalie, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Jan. 27, at the Newport News Church of the Nazarene, by Rev. Walter Kriner, followed by fellowship at the church.
Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
