Mattie married Reuben Ryle on December 6, 1865 in Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey. Their daughter, Blanche, was born in Newbury, Vermont on July 23, 1871. She died there on September 23. Blanche's burial site has not been located.
Mattie and Reuben lived in Brooklyn, New York by 1880. After becoming an invalid, Mattie moved to Burlington about 1888. She lived with her niece, Norma Wright.
