Ralph E. Hennessey, 88, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 20, 2005 at his residence.Born October 6, 1916, he was the owner, Chairman and CEO of Putnam Transfer & Storage Company, Inc. located at 1705 Moxahala Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. He has celebrated and enjoyed many years in the trucking: a true pioneer of the industry. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Violet M. George Hennessey, whom he married on August 1, 1936, two sons, Dan and Linda Hennessey, Pat and Debbie Hennessey, four grandchildren, Julie(Todd)Sands, Ralph(Keye)Hennessey, Kristen Hennessey and Brian Hennessey, six great grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica and Mary Sands, Carrie and Andrea Finely and Amanda Hennessey, all whom reside in Zanesville. He has held numerous positions within the trucking industry including being a member of the President Council of the American Institute of Management Operations, Council of the American Trucking Association, a member of the Ohio Trucking Association Board of Trustees, past President of the Ohio Trucking Association, past Chairman of the Board of Ohio Trucking Consulting Association and past Director of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. His likeness hangs in the Ohio Trucking Association Hall of Fame dated May 1989. He has also been active in civic affairs, having been past President of the local Chamber of Commerce, past Board Member of Goodwill Industries, past member of the Board of Directors of Citizen National Bank, a consulting Director of Banc Ohio, served on the Bethesda Foundation Council and was appointed to the National United Nations Day Committee. He is a member of the Elks Lodge 114, a 32nd degree Mason, Lafayette Lodge 79, member of the Shrine and the Zanesville Country Club. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Irene Tignor Hennessey, his father Daniel E. Hennessey and his sister Donna Jean Hennessey Huey.
