NORTH YORK David R. Abbott, Sr., 63, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at York Hospital. He had been the husband of Violet (Harris) Abbott. A viewing will be from 4 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 2114 W. Market St., followed by a 6:45 p.m. funeral service, with the Rev J.P. Bohanan officiating. A procession to Liberty Fire Company in North York will form and fire company honors will be afforded to David, with refreshments to follow. Mr. Abbott was born March 2, 1948, in York, a son of Eleanor (Abbott) Henry of York. He was the stepson of the late H. David Henry. He had been employed at Smurfit-Stone Paper Mill in York. He was a member of the York County Firemen's Association and had been a volunteer with the Alert Fire Company in Manchester Township, and Liberty Fire Company in North York. He was a life member of Liberty Social Club. David is survived by his mother; two sons, David R. Abbott, Jr., and Kyle M. Abbott of North York; and numerous cousins.
