Liam passed away at the age of only 8 years old. He is the son of Sara Herbard and step son of Scott Hinkle.

Liam Ferguson was riding his bike when he crashed and cut his thigh on the end of his handlebar. He was taken to an emergency room to receive stitches and get bandaged up, but after a few days at home the family realized the 8-year-old was in worse shape than ever. When the bandage was taken off
his parents became concerned it may be gangrene. It turned out that liam contracted a very rare flesh-eating bacteria. It was projected that when he wreaked the cut became in contact with particles of bacteria that were mixed in with the sand on the ground. The Surgeons were unable to keep pace with it spreading.

Although his mother is heartbroken by her loss, she will always admire her son's bravery even as he was battling the flesh-eating bacteria. "He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was one of those people who would walk into a room and would draw everyone." He also was known as a protecter for fellow classsmates who were bullied.

He was a "ray of sunshine".

You’re the little ray of sunshine
when dark clouds cloud my mind,
that little ray of hope
when my mind is in despair.
When it gets unbearable,
you are always there
with a smile
to chase the gloom away.
You’re the little ray of sunshine
that awakens up my mind
from negative to positive
and makes my world fine.
You’re with me each day
come sunshine or rain
as a little ray of hope
to make things fine again.
That little ray of sunshine
every one of us needs.
