Franz Xavier Bauer was born on Nov 23, 1932 in Viehbach, Bavaria. He was the son of Jakob Bauer and Klara Mayr. He grew up with 7 siblings. Franz became a taxi driver in the Munich area and was a world-traveller for many years.
Starting in the 1950s he travelled through all the countries on the Mediterrainean Sea. As the years passed when he wasn't doing taxi work, he planned more meticulous adventures. He journied from Germany to Nordkapp, at the northernmost tip of Norway. He drove across Africa to the southernmost end. He drove across vast expanses of Russia, all the way to Vladivostok on the Pacific coast. Franz also made a long American Tour from Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Central America, all the way to Tierra del Fuego at the tip of South America. Almost all the time beside Franz was his faithful dog, Charley.
Franz died on January 2nd, 2018 at a retirement home in Ottobrunn, in Munich, Germany.
