He hosted many stage shows featuring prominent recording artists of the day. Eddie also was the network announcer for the Perry Como TV show, which brought him to New York every week.
Eddie joined the staff of WGN radio in 1956 where he co-hosted a talk show with another Chicago radio legend, Jim Brickhouse.
In the 1980s, he moved to the Satellite Music Network, known later as the ABC Radio Network, where he was the afternoon host on the Stardust format and was heard on hundreds of stations.
His knowledge of radio and entertainment was unsurpassed. Listening to him and speaking to him was a pleasure. He was in the mold of William B. Williams, Wally Crouter, Gene Rayburn and Joe O'Brien, but Eddie had his own style.
Eddie died as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident in his adopted home of Grande Prarie, Texas.
