Mrs. D. C. Craver Dies Here After Lingering Illness
Mrs. Laura Anne Hege Craver, wife of Daniel C. Craver, died Saturday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Sink, South State Street, where the couple had made their home for the past five years.
She had been practically an invalid ever since suffering a stroke of paralysis over eleven years ago. For several weeks past she had been in a semi-comatose condition and for three days before death had been completely in a state of coma.
Mrs. Craver was born February 24, 1858. and was consequently in her seventy-first year. As Miss Laura Anne Hege she was married on January 5, 1875, to Daniel C. Craver, and their union lasted for more than fifty-three years. Six children were born to the couple, four of whom survive along with the husband and father. These are: Roy G. Craver, of Potomac, Va.; A. Banks Craver, of Reeds; Mrs. Bayard F. Sink and Mrs. William T. Grimes, of this city. One son, Isaac, died at the age of eleven and another, Arthur, died several years ago. Nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive. An only sister died many years ago.
A brief service was held from the home here yesterday at two o'clock and the remains were then taken to Reeds Baptist church, where the funeral was conducted by Rev. James M. Hayes, pastor of First Baptist church of Lexington, and Rev R. C. Foster, pastor at Reeds.
Mrs. Craver was a member of the Reeds Baptist church during many years of her residence there. But she and Mr. Craver united with the First Baptist church here about two years ago.
