Eileen "Irish" Eder, 87, of Akron, died April 22, 2000, after a short illness at Sumner on Merriman. Mom was born June 13, 1912, in Detroit, Michigan, and lived in Fremont , Ohio many years before moving to Akron 29 years ago. She was always proud of her Irish heritage and instilled this in all the family.

She was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and its Altar Society, a St. Vincent-St. Mary High School volunteer, the Highland Square Seniors, and the Fowler Building Tenant Council (editing the Fowler Newsletter). Special thanks to the nurses and aides at Sumner on Merriman.

Preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Eder in 1980; son, Dennis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Dan Stumpmier and Julia and William Gill; sister, Lil Gast; brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Elsie Hanlon; and brother, Blair Hanlon.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Fritz and Ruthann Eder of Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay and Leo Walter Jr. of Akron; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Edward Rondy of Lansing, Michigan, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sis and Gamper Linge of Wyandotte, Michigan; ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many caring nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass Thursday, 11:45 a.m. at St. Vincent Church. Interment of ashes was held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 11:15 a.m. until time of Mass.
