MONTICELLO -- Vernie Alexander, 80, Orange, Texas, formerly of Monticello, died 4:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 30, 1997) in Orange.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Brintlinger's Funeral Home with visitation noon to 2 p.m. Burial will be in LaPlace Cemetery. Memorials: North Orange Baptist Church or North Orange Hospice.
Mr. Alexander was born in Lintner on April 18, 1917, the son of Nelson and Della Augustine Alexander. Mr. Alexander was a retired farmer and a member of North Orange Baptist Church, an Army veteran and a 50 year Mason. He married Roberta Alexander on April 4, 1942.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Daniel of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Samuel of Orange; brother, Les of Decatur; sister, Irene Taylor of Saybrook; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
