Jack Michael "Duke" Beckham, 68 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at his home.

Duke was born on April 12, 1949 in Rochester, Pennsylvania to David Jack Beckham and Ruth Anna Maney Beckham.

He attended school in San Angelo,Texas and graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1968. During his Senior year of high school, he was in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

In August of 1968, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a Seabee. He later returned to San Angelo and worked at West Texas Utilities.

Following in his father's footsteps, Duke joined the San Angelo Police Department on October 16, 1972 and served for 24 years until his retirement on December 31, 1997. After his retirement from the San Angelo Police Department, he worked many years with the San Angelo Escort Service and was able to continue one of his passions, riding and repairing motorcycles.

Duke is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ruth Beckham of San Angelo.

He is survived by Ardis Loflin and their son Michael Loflin. Ardis' son Jeffery Nelson, Courtney Clark and his grandsons Braden McWilliams and Briley Seals. He is also survived by his Aunt Irene Slayton, sister Connie Swartz Ainsley and nephew Jason Brown, all of Newton Falls, Ohio; as well as his daughter Cori Karschner Walker, her husband Court Walker and their children Taylor and Taygan Walker of San Angelo.

The family would like to thank San Angelo Community Medical Center and The Regency House for the excellent care they gave Duke over the past few months. Special thanks to Hospice of San Angelo and the nurses for the compassionate care they gave him and his family during his final days.

Visitation will be held all day at Shaffer Funeral Home, 1939 Sherwood Way, San Angelo, Texas on Sunday, February 4, 2018 with family present from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2018 at PaulAnn Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Hospice of San Angelo.
