Obituary for Sallie Ann (Sloan) Agule

Sallie Ann (Sloan) Agule, born June 13, 1931 in Mt. Holly, NJ and raised in Old Greenwich, CT, active in the First Congregational Church and attended Low Heywood School, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017. She met the love of her life, a handsome Navy gent named George Agule at Teleregister Corp. in 1954. Two years later, June 16th, 1956, they were married. Over the next eleven years, they had four children and moved from Old Greenwich, CT to Manhattan Beach, CA, then settling in Acton, MA in 1967.

A creative entrepreneur, Sallie raised her four children while she put her artistic talents to work running and teaching art & crafts at the Apprentice Shop and Hartshorn Country Store in West Acton in the 1970s. Her specialty was creating Faberge-like ornaments out of Ostrich eggs. Later in life, her passion turned to sewing of all kinds; dress making, quilts, embroidery but most of all enjoyed teaching her grand- and great grandchildren to sew. She became a good friend and honorary member of Sew & Vac Nashua.

Sallie is best known by those who love her as passionate, funny, loving, feisty, smart and sassy. With a great sense of humor and an open heart, she embraced all. She also had a special place in her heart for dogs. With all of her accomplishments in life, she is most proud of her children who surrounded her and George with love, friendship and support throughout the years.

Sallie is survived by her adoring husband George of 60+ years; her children; Chip & Joy Agule, Doug & Karen Agule, Jamie & Vin Raso, and Wendy & Ken Nowokunski; her grandchildren; Katy & John Hayes, Jenna Agule (predeceased), Devon Agule, Ana Raso, Nina Raso, Neliz & Jorge Braza; her great-grandchildren; Isaiah, Makayla, and Miya.

Visiting hours are Friday, February 24th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25th at 11:00am at the Acton Funeral Home, with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Road, Acton Center.
