" FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR LONG TIME AREA RESIDENT. Mrs. Edna Whitworth Bode, 85, pioneer Nueces County resident, and former teacher, principal and postmaster in Banquete, died at 7:30 a.m. Wed., Oct. 21.
She was a native of Hood County and was reared in Bastrop, where she received her education and became a school teacher. She met her husband, the late Albert F. Bode, while teaching in Gillespie County. Bode died Dec. 31, 1952.
Mr. & Mrs. Bode moved to Nueces Co., In 1910 and farmed for several years.
The Bodes were the parents of six children, two of which preceded them in death ( note made to this article states -Ester and Cleo).
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Robstown Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Harold Sassman, pastor of the Banquete Methodist Church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Herman Murph, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Robstown. Burial was next to her husband in Banquete Cemetary".
