Obituary for Jerry Dale Livingston
Jerry Dale Livingston passed away on Tuesday January 30, 2018 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was a retired US Air Force Colonel, a true Officer and Gentleman, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Born July 10, 1932 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Jerry was the fourth child of David and Bettie Myrtle Livingston. He was preceded in death by his sister Essie Mathews and his two brothers, Helton (David) Livingston and Larry Livingston.
He graduated from Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1951. In 1955, he received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico and was commissioned a second lieutenant through the USAF ROTC program.
He retired from the Air Force in July 1986, with the rank of colonel. His last assignment was the Military Airlift Command Liaison to Red Flag at Nellis AFB, NV. During this assignment he was given the responsibility of establishing and conducting the Military Airlift Command's "Combat Aircrew Training School" (CATS).
Jerry's assignments include the 314TCW Sewart AFB, TN, 64/516 TCW Dyess AFB VA, 316 TCW Langley AFB VA, 504TASG Bien Hoa AB Vietnam, Headquarters Tactical Air Command Langley AFB, VA, Alaska Command Headquarters Elmendorf AFB, AK, 314MAW Little Rock AFB, AR, Headquarters Military Airlift Command Scott AFB, IL, USAF Airlift Center Pope AFB, NC and 4440TFTG (Red Flag) Nellis AFB, NV.
He was in the initial cadre (61TCS/17TCS) that operated C-130D (ski model) aircraft from Sondrestrom AB, Greenland to the Greenland icecap during the period March 1959- February 1963.
On February 5, 1966, Jerry married Jimmye Lou Nelson, his loving wife who preceded him in death on November 16, 2017. They were stationed at many military bases across the country (such as Virginia, Alaska, Arkansas, Illinois, North Carolina) before finally retiring at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both loved the military life. In retirement, they made sure to visit family and friends across the country. Everyone was welcome to stay with them in Las Vegas and they would show them a great time. They were also active in the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Alumni Association. Jerry loved his family and worked to organize all of the Livingston family reunions.
Jerry is survived by his children Gregg Stamper and wife Laurie of Tyler, Texas; Raye Lee Fullbright and husband Dave of Bearden, Oklahoma; Jeff Livingston and wife Lisa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Bobette Moisant and husband Rick of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Mark Livingston and wife Heather of Edmond, Oklahoma.
His 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren include:

One of Jerry and Jimmye Lou's favorite adventures was spending many hours in either their Lincoln Town Car or their Argosy travel trailer canvassing New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Tennessee to attending almost every high school and college graduation as well as every wedding of all 15 grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for February 16, 2018 at 9:30am at Crawford Family Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma with a full military burial service at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK at 1:00pm.
