Sylvia was born in Little Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of Rocco and Bessie LaVista.
As a high school graduate living in Gloversville, N.Y., and while working at the fledgling General Electric Plant in Schenectady, N.Y., a young and talented Sylvia met her lifelong soulmate and husband; Joseph "Joe" E. Persico.
After a short stint living abroad as part of the United States Foreign Service, Sylvia and Joe settled back in upstate New York, where they raised their two daughters.
While still loving her role as wife and mom, Sylvia graduated in 1969 from the State University of New York at Albany, and returned to the workforce to contribute her unique blend of charm, practicality and leadership at many non-profit organizations.
The culmination of that career was her Executive Position at the American Association of Retired Persons.
While she was retired and Joe continued in his thriving career as free-lance author, they embarked on a new adventure, living half the year in the gem town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and the other half close to family in Guilderland, N.Y.
She soon became an avid tapestry weaver and enjoyed numerous private showings at home and in Mexico, and also participated in the Hudson Mohawk Weaver's Guild.
She also continued in her lifelong passion for playing and winning tennis.
She and Joseph went on to spend twenty five years splitting their time between New York and Mexico and cherished the rich collection of friends and family they enjoyed in both settings.
Sylvia's final season of life was spent in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where she quickly adapted to her cozy new home and a simple but contented life of playing bridge and visits with close-by family.
She was predeceased by her husband; Joseph "Joe" E. Persico on August 30th 2014.
