In 1900 she and her parents and her eight siblings lived in a place they were renting in Ward 7 in Canton, OH. Her father worked as a glass blower. Three of her siblings worked in rolling mills--Harry as a matcher, Della as a solderer, and James as a scraper.

In 1910 she and her husband and their son, her sister Tillie and her husband, and her brother William lived with their mother in a place they were renting in Sharpsburg, PA. Her sister's husband worked as a house carpenter, her husband as a laborer at a freight station, and William as a messenger in a steel works.

In 1920 she and Archibald and their son lived in a place they were renting in O'Hara Township, Allegheny County, PA. He worked as an assistant traffic manager in a steel mill.

In 1930 she, her husband, their son, and her mother-in-law lived in a place they were renting for $45 a month in Ward 1 in Blawnox, PA. They did have a radio. Her husband worked as a foreman at the workhouse and their son as a laborer in a steel mill. (The Allegheny County Workhouse was a prison that was located adjacent to the town of Blawnox, Pennsylvania. Its full name was "Allegheny County Workhouse and Inebriate Asylum". The first inmates were received in 1869, and the facility closed in 1971. The prison housed mostly inmates convicted of minor offenses. Many of those prisoners maintained a farm of about 1100 acres, which contained apple orchards as well as many other crops and many different types of farm animals.)
