Richard (Ricky) I. Bloodworth, Jr., of Apalachicola, passed away peacefully at this home on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at the age of 59.
He was born April 6, 1958 in Panama City to Joan Marsh and Richard I. Bloodworth, Sr.
In his earlier years he was baptized at the Parker Baptist Church. He knew Jesus and loved him. In 1976 he graduated from Aviano High School in Aviano, Italy. He then went on to California State University where he graduated with his bachelors degree in journalism.
In Sacramento, California he went on to work for Gov. George Deukmejian as a legislative coordinator, and then for The California Manufacturers Association as a legislative assistant. In 1997 he moved to Apalachicola where he served as general manager of the Apalachicola River Inn, Carolines, The Spoonbill Lounge and Boss Oyster.
Ricky was blessed with a unique sense of humor. Everyone that he met, he was known to ask Have you had it? and Are you going to the Island?
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and his very best friend, Susan.
He leaves behind his parents, Joan and Richard Bloodworth; sister, Christine Smith (Tommy); brother, Randy Bloodworth; numerous aunt, uncles, and cousins; along with a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Kelley Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Magnolia Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
Following the services everyone is invited to The Spoonbill Lounge for food and celebration in memory of Rickys life.
