Obituary, Lathrop Optimist (Missouri), November 1, 1928
The community was shocked and deeply grieved Friday morning when the news of the sudden death of A D. Walker became known. Apparently in robust health, his passing was un-thought of. Death was due to heart disease known as myocarditis and occurred about 4 o'clock Friday morning a few moments after his wife was awakened by the sound of his breathing. The day before he and his neighbor had visited with friends in Clay county where they had gone for persimmons and he sat up rather late that evening talking and laughing in his characteristic happy way about the good time they had.

Ambrose Dudley Walker was born March 11, 1861 near Lathrop. His parents were John Walker and Sarah Catherine Capps, both of whom had come to Missouri from Kentucky. He was one of a family of 12, 8 girls and four boys of whom two survive, Mrs Lou Lewis, Lathrop and Mrs. Julia Harkley, Wenatchee, Washington. Mr. Walker was married February 2, 1883 to Miss Maggie Seaton who died July 21, 1905. The children of this marriage were two sons. John and Aaron, who survive. August 4, 1907 he was married to Miss Martha Crawford, who survives him. Their children are A. D., William, Catherine and Herbert, all of who are living.

Mr. Walker had lived in the vicinity of Lathrop practically all his life, having lived on his farm in the Grove community for many years. He was a man of many friends, a fact one could hardly imagine him having an enemy. He was always so goodhearted and jovial, but liberal man of conviction who stood firm for right principles. A marked characteristic of his nature was his hospitality which extended not only to friends and relatives but reached to strangers as well. His church affiliation was at first the Crooked River Baptist church but later was transferred to Browning Baptist church at Turney, where he was a member at the time of his death. Here his funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon October 28 by Rev. C.F.D. Arnold of Liberty. The church was filled to capacity and more than that number stood outside to pay a last tribute of respect to him whom they had known and loved. Burial was in Deer Creek cemetery.
