DOTHAN. . . Sammy Lamar Hawkins, a resident of Dothan, died early Tuesday night, January 9, 2018, at his home. He was 71.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 11, 2018, in the Holman Headland Mortuary Chapel with Buford Kimbrel officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Community Cemetery, Bell’s Crossroads Community of Dale County. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DaySpring Hospice, 3160 W. Main St., Suite 1, Dothan, AL 36305.

Sammy Hawkins was born and reared near Midland City but lived in Dothan most of his lifetime. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Sammy was formerly employed as the manager of Hardee’s in Headland. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Mixon Hawkins, his mother, Eleanor Enfinger, a sister, Brenda Corbin Neeley, and his step-father, Jay Enfinger.

Surviving relatives include five sisters, Jean Kimbrel (Buford), Headland; Carolyn Reneer (Doug), Arnold, CA; Angela Osborne (Melvin), Lapine, AL; Faith Gonzales (Mike), Ashford; and Hope Henderson (Danny), Banks, AL; five brothers, Douglas Corbin, Headland; Michael Enfinger (Tammy), Jay Enfinger (Gwen), Reginald Enfinger (Melanie), and Dean Enfinger (Jeannie), all of Dothan;
