Bill graduated from Millikin University May 1954. He entered the United States Marine Corps Officer Training Program at Quantico, VA. He was stationed on Okinawa and was in charge of the Base Honor Guard and at Camp Pendleton. He was part of a 3rd Marine Division Training Exercise Landing on Iwo Jima and participated in a joint United States – Thailand amphibious exercise.
Bill was Chief Internal Auditor for the IL Dept. of Central Mgmt. Services. He was on the IL CPA Society Board of Directors and served a term as Vice President. He was past president of the Springfield Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
He was Vice Chairman of the United Fund Drive of Sangamon County, Jr. Achievement Advisor, District Chairman of the Abraham Lincoln Boy Scouts, Treasurer of the Academy of Lifelong Learning, Adjunct Instructor of Accounting at LLCC and Sangamon State University.
Bill enjoyed playing golf, cards, traveling, reading and was a life-long Cubs fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. His faith sustained him throughout his life.
Graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery on April 6, 2018, at 11:00 am with Reverend Nicole Cox officiating and military honors will be conducted.
