Koehler was born April 26, 1919 in Boise, Idaho. She went to nursing school prior to joining the U.S. Navy as a nurse, and then worked at the Veterans' Hospital in Boise.
She came to Alaska in May of 1950 from Sumas, Wash., living in Skagway, Haines, Tok, Nome and finally Wasilla where she was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She volunteered at the schools and museums, and she also loved people and traveling.
Koehler is survived by her son Mike Dennison of Wasilla, daughter Barbara Jenson of Boise, and sister Marge McClellan of Paul, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Koehler.
