Doss Nolan Roberts, 79, of Midland passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, while in Casa Grande, Arizona. He had put up a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 1:00 pm in the Garden City Cemetery. Dress is casual.

Doss was born on November 3, 1938, to Ubie and Riss Roberts in Garden City, Texas.

The family later moved to Big Spring where he attended school.

He worked in the oil fields until he enlisted in the Air Force in February, 1961. After serving honorably for 20 years, he retired as a Master Sargent in February, 1981.

He moved back to Midland in the fall of 1981, again working in various aspects of the oil industry.

He had horses for a number of years.

In the late 80's he got his private pilot's license and loved to fly and refurbish air planes.

He also loved to play golf, even winning the Phil-Am open in the early '70s when he was stationed in the Philippines while in the Air Force.

The one thing Doss loved more than anything, though, was the Lord, the Word, and talking about the Bible. Oh how he loved the Lord. He was looking forward to his new mansion in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Sally (Meader) Roberts, two children, and his sisters, Della Banks of Burleson, TX, and Myrna Rainey of Arlington, TX, as well as his younger brother Boman Roberts of Arlington, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are William J. Savage, Sergio Ojeda, Glen Sanders, and Tommy Turner.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to the John Hagee Ministries Exodus Fund, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the Salvation Army.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
