Memorial services for Dale Boren, 83, of Lufkin will be held February 17, 2018 at First Christian Church Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

This is a tribute to the life of Mark Dale Boren, Jr., also known as Dale, Daddy by his three sons Mark Dale Boren III, Dan and Ted, Gramps by his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and Cheri, which is French for Dear, by his loving wife of 59 years, Vickie Ann Boren.

Dale was born October 5, 1934 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Mark Dale Boren, Sr. and Juno (Malone) Boren. As such he was a member of what is called “The Greatest Generation”, and Dale lived up to that name in everything he did. After getting a Bachelors degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Oklahoma he joined Mobil Oil Corporation. Dale started out planting jugs of explosives in the field for use in creating a geologic underground map that was used in the search for oil. He then returned to Oklahoma University to get his Masters degree in Engineering Physics with help from Mobil Oil Corporation. Then in the tradition of the “Greatest Generation” Dale proceeded to rise from the lowest rank to the highest rank in the geophysical branch of Mobil Oil Corporation in the world. During this time while in charge of exploration in Indonesia he found several oil fields.

Though Dale had great accomplishments in his professional career his greatest were in his personal life. He was a loving and devoted husband to Vickie whom he always thought of first in everything he did, never himself. Together they traveled the world living in Paris, France, Tunis, Tunisia where their two oldest sons were born, then Norman, Oklahoma where their third son was born. They visited many countries during his time in Jakarta. Many children have “heroes” they look up to as role models, usually sports players, but for his three boys they all had only one “hero”, their great daddy.

Dale left Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in Lufkin, Texas when God called him home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Juno; and sister, Betty.
