Mary "Moe" Lou Mayfield died Sept. 18, 1989, in Eureka at the age of 51. A native of Tacoma, Wash., she had been a resident of Eureka since 1949. Mrs. Mayfield graduated from Arcata High School and was on the honor roll. She was employed as a nurse for more than 20 years, her last employer being General Hospital. She was a lifetime member of Foster Care Association and a longtime member of Rebbeca (sic) Odd Fellows, and was an avid bingo player. She was loved and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis T. Mayfield of Eureka; four sons, Lewis Mayfield of Eureka, Chris Stuart of Vacaville, Calif., Lindsey Stuart of Eureka and Randy Stuart of Red Bluu, Calif.; four daughters, Charlene Strong and Bonnie Reeves, both of Eureka, Kathy Body of Oregon and Melanie Mayfield of Eureka; four brothers, Ferdinand G. Busenius, Jr.of Eureka, David Busenius of Oklahoma, James Busenius of Minnesota and Steven Busenius of Vancouver, Wash.; Four sisters, Beverly Cole of Eureka, Sadie Card of McKinleyville, Kay Carper of McKinleyville and Sally Johnson of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Rocheal Strong, Andrea Strong, Bolin Reeves, Renea Reeves, Mathew Body, Kevin Stuart, Brian Beers, and one on the way; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
