Obituary for Mildred "Millie" V. Kohl
Mildred “Millie” V. Kohl, our wild Irish rose, was born January 27, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois, to Bernard John and Cecilia Rose Graham. After a long healthy and productive life, she passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018, at her daughter, Katie’s, home in Ada, MI.

Millie will be remembered by all for her dancing blue eyes, her deep dimples, her ready smile, her love of life and family and her kindness to others. Her patience was only exceeded by her laughter and her love of her immediate and extended family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a fun and happy grandmother, and a friend to many. She loved to dance, sing and anything Irish. She spent an active life waterskiing, fishing and swimming in the North Woods, playing cards, going to see her grandchildren in performances and sporting events and producing and participating in theater. She could bake a mean apple pie and was known for her eclairs. She was quick to volunteer her time and talent. She could be counted on to help with community and church projects especially at Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst, Illinois. She always thought of herself as happy and lucky and she lived a long and full life. She will be sorely missed. Millie was a 1939 graduate of St. Mary’s High School, and completed 3 years at Mundelein College, studying education and English. She briefly taught school at Our Lady of Angels School in Chicago, Illinois. She also played organ and piano at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and worked as a model in print ads in the 1930’s and 40’s.

Millie is survived by her children Gregory (Julie) Kohl; George (and the late Jeannie) Kohl; Brian Kohl; Katherine “Katie” (Anthony) Bylak; Mildred "Millie" (Russel) Palmer; her grandchildren Eric (Mary) Kohl, Victoria (Troy) Moon, Ryan Bylak, Kelly Bylak, Georgianna Palmer, Julia Palmer, Grant Palmer, Jillian Palmer, and Breanna Bylak, and her brother Robert J. Graham. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who know and love her as Auntie Mo.

Millie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, George F. Kohl, her parents and her sisters, Genevieve Laskiewicz, Florence Kucharski and Virginia Graham.
