Mary Elizabeth Adamson was born Nov. 8, 1849.She was united in marriage to Joel Jones in 1873. To this union was born nine children, six of whom are still living. Her husband preceded her in death in 1900. Those left to mourn her death are her four sons, George and Newt Jones of Sparta, John and Amos Jones of Chadwick, two daughters, Mrs. Thena Eakman of Pitcher, Okla., and Mrs. Nancy Shipman of Hawkersville, Okla., a sister, Jane Shipman of Fresno, Calif., 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Jones was converted and became a member of the Missionary Baptist church at Fairview in 1887. She remained a devoted Christian until her death July 11, 1935. She was greatly loved and respected by all that knew her and will surely be missed by all. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 13, at 2 p.m. at Fairview by Brother John Burkheart, with burial in Fairview cemetery under the direction of T.B. Chaffin of Ozark.
