During World War II, Raymond L. Bendall inspected parts for military aircraft, tanks and other vehicles at the Brook Park Tank Plant, now the International Exposition Center. After the war, he continued to work as a quality control inspector for the federal government.

Mr. Bendall , 86, of Parma, died of complications of cancer Sunday at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights. The Cleveland native graduated from West Technical High School in 1928.

For 78 years, Mr. Bendall belonged to the Franklin Circle Christian Church in the Ohio City section of Cleveland. He also was a member of the Bigelow Masonic Lodge. Bowling, golf and playing cards were among his favorite forms of recreation.

Mr. Bendall is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred; daughter, Barbara A. Derrick of Middleburg Heights; son, Robert of Strongsville; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister.
