She was born Carolyn Sue Sefried on August 4, 1944 in Blue Mound, Ill. to Dorothy Sefried and Roy Dobbs. She was adopted by Raymond Cline in 1963. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Frank and Emma Sefried, her mother Dorothy (Sefried) Cline, step-father Raymond Cline, half brothers Gary Cline, Frank Cline, Step Sister Karen (Cline) Sparling and her son Jason Wade Clark.
Carolyn is survived by her son Mark Madison Clark of Charlotte, N.C., her daughter Natika (Clark) Burton of St. Augustine, Fla., half brothers John and David Cline of Taylorville, Ill., half sisters Nancy (Cline) Sims of Edinburg, Ill. and Judy (Cline) Funk of Taylorville, Ill., grandchildren: Callie Clark, Dakotah Clark of Collinsville, Ill., Colton Clark of Jacksonville, Fla., Alyssa Burton of Jacksonville, Fla., Emma (Clark) Williams, Madison Clark and Lydia Clark, of Charlotte, N.C. and great-grandchildren Trinity and Olivia Williams and Finley Clark.
Carolyn worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in St. Louis, Mo. and the Illinois National Guard in Springfield, Ill. for 34 years retiring in 2016 from Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Ill. where she met many wonderful friends and created a new work family. Her work family and her “Soldiers” were the loves of her life, second only to her family.
Carolyn loved the Lord, her work, her work family, her friends and her family and was loved and respected by all who met her. Carolyn said, before she died, “It’s been one hell of a ride” (and I don’t talk like that)!
Services will be held in the spring at Camp Lincoln, Springfield, Ill. per Carolyn’s request.
