MICHAEL DALE DAVIS, 65, of Slocum, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, February 24, 2018. He was born October 25, 1952 in Bellville, TX to Leighton and Audrey Pfeffer Davis.
Michael grew up in Baytown, TX where he attended school and graduated from Ross Sterling High School. After graduating, he worked for Exxon for 7 years before moving to Slocum. Michael worked the remainder of his working career in the Grapeland and Palestine area with his last employment at Elkhart ISD.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leighton Davis, grandparents, Louis and Gladys Pfeffer of Bellville and cousin, Bobby Hudgins of Baytown. He is survived by his mother, Audrey Davis of Slocum, sister, Sharon Davenport and husband Jim and nephew Paxton Davenport, all from Palestine.
In Michael’s early years, you could always find him in the marsh with a group of friends during duck hunting season. After moving to Slocum, he loved to hunt quail with his dad and could often be found at the pond with a fishing rod.
He had a big heart and loved animals, especially dogs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Michael to Animal Protection League of Palestine, 1917 Crockett Road, Palestine, TX 75801.
