US Congressman, Judge. Elected as a Republican to represent Ohio's 16th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1929 to 1933. He graduated from the Western Reserve University Law School of Cleveland, Ohio in 1912, was admitted to the bar, and practiced as an attorney in Canton. In 1919, he became the assistant prosecuting attorney of Stark County. In 1923, he became the prosecuting attorney and served in that capacity for another four years. After his second term in Congress, he lost reelection in 1932 and again in 1934. He resumed his law practice until he was elected in 1946 as a State Court Judge. He presided over the Court of Appeals in Ohio's 5th appellate district until he retired in 1963.
