Agnes Gokey

Webster – The funeral for Agnes Gokey, 88, Webster, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the American Lutheran Church in Webster. The Rev. Brad Peterson will officiate.

Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery with Fidsdal Funeral Service in Webster in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. There will also be visitation prior to the service on Monday at the church.

She died Thursday, July 7, 1994, at Bethesda Home of Webster.

Agnes Engebriston was born Aug. 30, 1905, to Andrew and Oleanna (Knutson) Engebriston in Casper, Minn. In 1908, the family moved to a farm south of Waubay in Central Point Township, Day County, where she grew up. She attended country school, and graduated from Waubay High School. She taught country school in the Webster and Waubay areas.

She married Clarence Gokey on Feb. 26, 1926, in Watertown. The couple lived in Aberdeen, and then moved to Sioux Falls, where they resided for 26 years. He died in 1987. In August 1990, she moved to Webster. She had resided at the Bethesda Home of Webster since December 1992.

Survivors include three brothers, Clifford Engebriston of Sioux Falls, and Milo Engebriston and Leo Engebriston, both of Salt Lake City; and two sisters, Mrs. Laurine Anderson of Orland Park, Ill., and Mrs. Andrew (Ida) Rumpca of Webster.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.

Casket Bearers will be Rodney Soyland, Dennis Engebritson, Donald Rumpca, Dan Ripperger, Don Kennedy and Jerome Donahue.
