Robert “Bob” McGee Lehr, age 81, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Friday, March 2, 2018. Bob was born August 21, 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri to the parents of Dr. Harold D. and Mary Elizabeth Lehr of Elmer, Missouri.

In 1951 the family moved to La Plata, Missouri where he graduated from high school in 1954. He attended NE Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri until he enlisted in the Air Force on November 13, 1958. He married Betty June Hammond on February 2, 1959 and to this marriage was born four children, Jay Lehr, Jana Haynie, Dena Daniel and Tara Hurley.

Bob proudly served in the Air Force for 20 years retiring on July 31, 1979. He began a second career in 1984 as a civil servant where he served as a Logistics and Equipment Management Specialist retiring in January 1999. He belonged to the LaPlata Lodge No 327. In his free time, he loved hunting, fishing, boating, Nascar, and going to coffee along with spending time with family and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Victor Lehr.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Lawton, Oklahoma (formerly of Altus), son Jay Lehr and wife Nancy of Lawton, daughter Jana Haynie of Caribou, Maine, daughter Dena Daniel and husband Curtis of Altus, daughter Tara Hurley and husband Rob of Lebanon, Illinois, grandchildren Cody, Brittany, Shelby, Caitlin, Kelsey, Haley (Heath), Cole, Jason and Blake, and great-grandchildren Lane and Brexley along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowell-Tims funeral home. Burial will be with military honors on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
