C.E. Tarlton "Tex" Beall, 71, of Merlin died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at his home.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A graveside service will follow at 10 a.m. at Granite Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Randel Livingood officiating.

He was born Oct. 23, 1934, in Vernon, Texas, to Alta Jewell (Rozzell) and Charlie Haskell Beall. He worked for his father on a large Texas ranch before moving to California at age 15. For several years he worked as a roughneck in the California oil fields.

In 1953, he moved to Oregon and worked in the hop yards. He later worked for Willamette Plywood in Glendale. On April 4, 1954, he married Alta Abbott, who survives.

He worked at Southern Oregon Plywood before moving to Medford in 1961. He helped set up Medco Plywood and laid up the first panel of plywood at the mill. In 1969, he began working as a truck driver. He drove log trucks, moved mobile homes and did highway driving. In 1978, he returned to Fourply as plywood foreman.

He enjoyed country music and played drums in a band. He also enjoyed fishing from his boat, being home with his family and friends, and watching wildlife.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Eva Beyerlin of Gold Beach; two sisters, Alta Ann Williams and Janice Slusser, both of Merlin; and a brother, Charles Beall of Merlin.
