Walter R. Bowers, driver of the car, is being detained by police pending the outcome of a coroner's inquest. Rohrer, Bowers and five other occupants of the small coupe were enroute to work on the Western Pike road contract, going by the way of Williamsport and Kemp's Mill.
Rohrer suffered a fractured skull and died within a few minutes, it was reported.
Rohrer was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louella; son, John, Jr.; mother, Mrs. Clara Rohrer, Hagerstown; brother, Ernest L.; and three sisters, Mrs. W.L. Cosey, Mrs. C.E. Gordon and Miss Alice Rohrer, all of Hagerstown.
