Vernon A Condie
November 24, 1932 - March 4, 2018 (age 85)

Life Legacy

On March 4, 2018 we lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Vernon A Condie was born in Cedar City, UT on November 24, 1932 to Bill and Cora Condie and was the third of six children. He graduated from Cedar High School. Then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Mission serving the majority of the time in San Diego. With an immense love of learning he attended the Branch Agricultural College (now Southern Utah University) and Utah State University earning two bachelor's degrees (in Biology and Wildlife Management). He specialized in communications while serving with the United States Army in Korea. In 1961 he met the love of his life Carol Jean Jackson at USU. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on June 8, 1962. Vernon and Carol are the parents of ten children. Shortly after marriage he worked as a National Parks Service Ranger at Bryce Canyon for three years. Later he received his teaching certificate and became a science teacher at Beaver High School where he taught for 25 years.

He served faithfully in many capacities for the LDS church as a Sunday School Teacher, Temple Worker, Missionary at Cove Fort, High Priest Group Assistant, Elder's Quorum Counselor, Scout Master, and Ward Clerk. Vernon had a special ability to make every person he met feel important and he rarely forgot a person's name. He had a great passion for many things including: people, wagon trains, yodeling, raising dogs and horses, farming, hunting, fishing, running (as a young man), reading, and teaching those in the community and his family. Vernon enjoyed listening to and performing music throughout his life. He oftentimes would play guitar and harmonica while singing with his family, he was a frequent performer at community and civic events and a member of the Master Singers in Cedar City.

Vernon is survived by his beautiful, loving wife Carol J. Condie and his children: Lief (Debby) of Enoch, UT; Nathan (Monica) of Cedar City, UT; Daniel (Erica) of Caliente, NV; Terrell Thayne of Mountian Home, UT; Kendall Nephi of Boynton Beach, FL; N. Ammon (Kadye) of Beaver, UT; Janette Brannvall of Beaver, UT; Jared (Tara) of Sunnyside, WA; Kathryn Madsen (Dan) of Farson, WY; and Leona Moat (Cody) of Fillmore, UT; siblings: Melvin (Marion) of Tooele, UT; Carolyn Bladen of Logan, UT; and Richard (Joyce) of Washington, UT. He is also survived by his 32 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings James and Luree, and his daughter Lorraine Condie Thayne.
The funeral services will be held in Beaver, UT on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at the Beaver LDS third ward chapel building, 215 N. Main Street.
