Maude Banks, 98, a winter resident of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away early Thursday morning, December 13, 1983, in the John Milton Nursing Home in Kissimmee.
Born August 6, 1885 in Beaver, a daughter of the late John W. and Adda Douds Gillespie, she was a winter resident of Florida for 38 years, residing most of her life in South Beaver Township and a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Darlington.
She was a 74 year member (the oldest in service) of Chippewa Grange # 1592,Chippewa Township, the oldest 7th Degree National Member affiliated with the Chippewa Grange; a member of the Richmond Little Red School House and a former 4-H Club leader in Chippewa Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew C. Banks, in 1978; a brother, Arthur Harold (Bill) Gillespie and three sisters, Mrs. Cozette Steffler, Mrs. Katherine W. Douds and Mrs. Georgie J. Funk.
Mrs. Banks is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the J.T. Anderson Jr. and Son Funeral Home, Beaver, where the service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. by Rev. H. Milton Shultz, pastor of Brush Run United Methodist Church, in absence of her church pastor.
Interment will be in Beaver Cemetery.
