Josephine, wife of John C. Abel, died at her late home, 220 West Decatur street, at 12:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, of paralysis, aged 50 years. Deceased was a native of Oldenburg, Germany, and has been a resident of Decatur for thirteen years. She has always been remarkably well favored in the matter of health and her sudden illness and death was a severe shock to the members of her family and her friends.

On Tuesday she was able to go out riding with her daughter, but soon after coming in from the ride was stricken with paralysis while she was quietly sitting in her easy chair. Deceased has for a number of years past been a member of the congregation of Saint James’ Catholic church in this city. She leaves seven children, Mrs. Emma Seeforth, Mrs. Amelia Ferguson, Mrs. Rosa McShane of Chicago, and Mary, Tony, Frank and Leo Abel of Decatur.
