Donald L. Hoch was a fine gentleman, a loving husband and father, a devoted Christian, and a successful and hardworking businessman. He was also a McPherson College (Kansas) alumnus and a letter winner in football. The owner of his own company, Hoch Construction, Don and employee, Scott Robinson, both died on September 11, 1980 in a construction accident in McPherson, Kansas. His loving and devoted wife, Reta, was reunited with him on March 1, 2004.

DON HOCH

MCPHERSON--Don Hoch, 48, died Thursday when he was trapped in a trench cave-in.

He was born May 13, 1932, in Alta Vista, the son of Harry and Opal Engstrom Hoch. He was graduated from McPherson College.

Mr. Hoch owned Hoch Construction Co., McPherson. He also was a former teacher and wrestling coach at Seaman High School, Topeka.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, McPherson.

He was married to Reta Raleigh May 29, 1955, at McPherson. She survives at home.

Other survivors include two sons, Wyatt Hoch, Lawrence, and Keith Hoch, Manhattan; a daughter, Brenda Hoch, Manhattan; three brothers, Lowell Hoch, Gardner, Willis Hoch, Dwight, and Arthur Hoch, McPherson.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, McPherson. Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church family center. Mr. Hoch will lie in state from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ball and Son Funeral Home, McPherson.
