US Congressman, 47th Ohio Governor, US Senator. He was elected as a Republican to represent Ohio's 8th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1911 to 1915, when he resigned due to having been elected Governor. He then served as Governor of Ohio from 1915 to 1917. He was later elected as a Republican Senator from Ohio to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Warren G. Harding, who had been elected President of the United States. He served from 1921 until his death in office in 1928.
